Filo Girl is an animatronic installation displaying a depiction of the pop-culture phenomenon known as “Lofi Girl”. Filo Girl is a robot that writes on a scroll laid out on a small table in front of her. Once the exposed section of the scroll is written on, the “page” is refreshed automatically as the portion which was written on is rolled into the table revealing more
blank paper.
Her cursive writing motion displays an intention that conflicts what is expected of modern robotics. Her head also turns to look out a window to her side –a large LCD which displays a the real Lofi Girl livestream. The scene was livestreamed on Youtube during the SPAM New Media Festival –broadcasted from a camera positioned to the other side of the Girl in a matching position to the Lofi Girl’s livestream perspective.
