<<<<<HERE'S A VIDEO OF IT BREATHING FIRE. THE THUMBNAIL DOESN'T LOOK INTERESTING BUT I ASSURE YOU IT IS!
Built with the help of my parents, this dragon stands over 7 feet tall and made for a very fitting halloween display for 2020. She has a wooden skeleton with a chicken wire shell. We dipped pieces of cloth in concrete and layed it on the shell to make the fire-proof skin. Using a modified weed burner, a solenoid valve, and a programmed array of relays, I was able to create a captivating show!
I programmed the system with an Arduino mega hooked up to an array of relays. The system works as follows: when the arduino senses the push button being triggered, it plays an mp3 file of the dragon "warming up" when it's time to roar, the relays controling the spotlight and eyes turn off and on, the relay controlling a tazer is triggered to spark the nozzle, and lastly the relay hooked up to the solenoid is triggered. While it isn't spitting flames, the eyes blink and an mp3 file of the dragon breathing is played.
